This was our caravan for our trip to Sebring in the spring of 1969. The PV is full of tires and other supplies and still wearing its license plate.  I removed it for the race.  In hindsight, I wish I hadn’t.   My battered old ’56 Mercury, heavily loaded, sits behind my co-driver the Dodge “poptop” camper.  The Dodge, belonged to my co-driver Bob Theall's Dad and is having a flat tire replaced.   In the foreground is the late George “Sandy” Sanderson. My good friend and mentor and the man responsible for one of the greatest experiences of my life.   Of interest in this photo is the coincidence of the ’48 Ford in the background.   They were rare on the road then, even more so  now.
