Wink already had this car on his layout. The car was intended as a boom tender for a wrecker. Unfortunately, Wink didn't have a wrecker to go with it. I'd had the wrecker seen in the pics around for years but had never built the kit. I no longer recall who's kit it was as this model has been around for many years, introduced originally Tru-Scale models in the 1950's.
A small wrecker, I thought it would be appropriate for Wink's short line Central Maryland RR.

It turned out however, that boom was too long for the boom tender and hit the cabin. Hence the flat car on the other side of the wrecker. Both the boom tender and the flat car were detailed with Tichy hand rails, various barrels, hooks, chain and other detritus common to work cars of this type.
